Proposed APDVS Outline for the Development of a Web-based Curriculum

The APDVS Curriculum and Education Committees have begun to develop a web-based curriculum for all vascular surgery residents. This outline includes the major content areas.

We request that all Program and Associate Program Directors, as well as current vascular surgery residents, review the outline and send any suggestions for improvement and any potential content areas that we may have inadvertently failed to include to pburton@vascularsociety.org.

The sections highlighted in yellow will all soon require section editors. In the next few weeks, we will be sending out RFAs for volunteers who are interested in working on the creation of the APDVS Curriculum Web site.

This is an exciting and vitally important project and it will need broad and active participation from the APDVS and SVS membership to succeed. We thank you in advance for your help.

About APDVS

The membership of the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS) includes the directors of all vascular surgery residency programs in the United States.

The purpose of APDVS is to address the educational, regulatory and financial issues which impact on the education of future vascular surgeons. APDVS convenes in April at the time of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Research Initiatives in Vascular Disease Conference and again in June in association with the Vascular Annual Meeting held by SVS. Vascular surgery residents are invited to the April meeting and a separate program has been developed which includes scientific presentations, as well as topics of interest relating to their continuing professional careers.

Officers in the society include a President, a President-Elect and a Secretary-Treasurer. In addition a+n executive council is appointed to discuss matters that will ultimately be presented to the general membership.
